Leader’s Mausoleum Will Be Demolished

Bulgaria has decided to demolish the mausoleum that once housed the embalmed body of the nation’s first Communist leader, Georgi Dimitrov. “Experts agree that it does not match Sofia’s overall architectural image,” a Construction Ministry spokeswoman in the capital said. The body of Dimitrov, who led the Balkan country after World War II until his death in 1949, was cremated in 1990.
