Laguna Hills 37, Santa Margarita 36--Unable to hold a five-point lead in the final minutes, Santa Margarita missed two game-winning shots at the end. Shannon Owens had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks (4-0).
No. 7 San Clemente 75, University 29--Kristin Jenkins scored 13 points to lead San Clemente (2-0), which plays Vista in Friday’s semifinal.
Vista 56, Villa Park 44--Lauren Yadon scored 24 points for Villa Park, which trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter against San Diego County’s No. 2 team.
In the Ladycat tournament:
No. 1 Brea Olinda 67, Diamond Bar 55--Chelsea Trotter scored 22 and Jill Trader 17 for host Brea (6-0).
In the Downey Calvary Chapel tournament:
Brethren Christian 43, Brentwood 32--Sarah Amberry scored 14 for Brethren Christian (4-2).
In the Fountain Valley Challenge:
No. 9 Irvine 67, Fountain Valley 48--Kristin Thawley scored 27 and Jody Carlson 21 for Irvine (5-0).
In the El Dorado Gary Raya tournament:
Canyon 36, Manhattan Beach Mira Costa 29--Canyon came back after getting outscored, 9-0, in the opening quarter. Marcella Serrano scored 11 points for Canyon (2-1).
El Dorado 59, La Mirada 42--Smadar Bezalel scored 14 points for El Dorado (5-1).
In the Troy/Kennedy tournament:
Capistrano Valley 64, Garden Grove 29--Nicole Howard scored 26 points and Lindsey Peloza had 16 for Capistrano Valley (3-2).
No. 3 Troy 89, Loara 39--Veronica Johns-Richardson scored 20 and Stefanie Schilling 18 for Troy (3-0).
In nonleague games:
Long Beach Poly 58, No. 5 Edison 57--Long Beach Poly took the lead with 20 seconds remaining and Edison missed a three-pointer at the buzzer. Rachael Ziemann scored 19 points and Michelle Zylstra had 15 points and 11 rebounds for visiting Edison (2-3).
Orange Lutheran 62, Connelly 29--Nicole Grady scored 18 points for Orange Lutheran (2-3).
Saddleback 79, La Quinta 45--Alisa Carillo scored 20 points to lead host Saddleback (1-2).
Savanna 33, Sunny Hills 22--Reanita Starr (16 points) scored eight in the first and eight in the fourth for Savanna (2-1). .
