Judy Devries of Brea never fully understood why her late husband, Lou, was so interested in being a police volunteer--but that changed after she followed his lead and completed the Brea Police Department’s Citizen Academy class.
The department’s third Citizen Academy class graduated this week after spending three hours each Wednesday for 11 weeks being taught how policing works.
In all, 21 residents from Brea and Yorba Linda received the gratitude of the police for taking time to understand the inner workings of the Police Department.
