A 35-year-old Burbank man was killed when his car stalled on the southbound Golden State Freeway and was hit by a tractor-trailer, authorities said Tuesday.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, Jaime Rivera’s Ford Mustang stalled in the No. 4 lane between the Western Avenue exit and the Ventura Freeway transition, according to Shirley Gaines, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman.
Florentino Juarez, 30, of Santa Paula, was driving his tractor-trailer southbound in the same lane when he saw Rivera’s car stopped and facing west.
But Juarez, who was going about 55 mph, was unable to stop in time and struck the right side of Rivera’s car, Gaines said.
Juarez was treated for minor injuries at the scene, she said.
Authorities said it was not immediately known if rain contributed to the accident.
