* Re Thomas M. Nylund’s “Why Not Just Pick It Up,” Voices, March 6: My mother taught me to pick up my trash, too, and not throw it out the window or leave it on the street. We have become a nation of uncaring and discourteous people who just don’t think to do what is right. If we all were re- sponsible for our own “trash” then this would be a more beautiful and cleaner environment.
I applaud Nylund and I would hope people reading that article would think twice and three times before throwing not only cigarette butts but dirty diapers as well from their car window. And it only takes a few extra minutes to replace the shopping cart to its rightful place.
