Canyons Wins Golf Tournament

John Pina and Travis Mayte each shot par 72 to help College of the Canyons to a 374-375 victory over runner-up Desert in the Citrus Invitational golf tournament Monday at Glendora Country Club.
Sean Oriti was Canyons’ third scorer with a 75, followed by Carlos Robledo with a 77 and Mike Scott with a 78.
Paul D’Ambra shot a 72 for defending state champion Desert.
Pina was declared the medalist over Mayte and D’Ambra on a card-off.
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
Palmdale 3, Northview 0--John Felkins, a senior right-hander, threw a two-hitter, struck out seven, walked three and hit a two-run home run in the sixth for the Falcons (7-3) in a first-round game of the Pomona tournament.
Matt Harrington had two hits for Palmdale.
El Camino Real 15, Reseda 3--Freshman pitcher Greg Acheatel allowed two hits in five innings and hit a triple and a single to pace the Conquistadores (10-1) in a Birmingham tournament game.
Sean McElroy and Scott Gilmore each hit two-run home runs for El Camino Real in a game stopped after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Birmingham 12, Reseda 1--Frankie Mendieta had a two-run triple and a double, and scored three runs for the Patriots (6-5) in a Birmingham tournament game that was called in the fifth because of the 10-run rule.
Raul Campos had three hits, including a run-scoring single for Birmingham.
Chris Coleman led off the second with a home run for Reseda (7-4).
Alemany 5, Duarte 3--Matt Sgro had three hits, drove in two runs and scored twice to help host Alemany (5-4) in a nonleague game.
Sgro’s home run in the first tied the score, 1-1, and his run-scoring double in the third gave the Indians a 3-1 lead.
Brett Baker had two hits for Alemany, including a two-run home run in the fourth to give Alemany a 5-2 lead.
BOYS’ GOLF
Hart 322, Newbury Park 378--Ryan Wyman shot a three-under-par 58 at Vista Valencia Golf Course for the Indians (12-1-1) in a nonleague victory over Newbury Park (4-12). Wyman is one-under par on the season.
Lompoc tournament--Westlake, led by individual champion J.T. Kohut, defeated Atascadero in a playoff after tying for first place with a 230-stroke total on the par-72 La Purisima course.
Westlake won on the first playoff hole when Kohut, who shot a 74 in regulation, and Ian Medlock each shot par and Brian Flaherty shot a bogey. Atascadero’s top three players shot two-over par.
