COMPTON — A man who lives across the street from Dominguez High School is being held on $500,000 bail after he reportedly attacked a 15-year-old girl outside the school and carried her to his home, police said.
Tramail Lamount Stewart, 24, was arrested May 12, just before 9 a.m. on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and assault with intent to commit rape, police said.
Stewart had grabbed the student in front of the school and carried her across the street, police said. When she protested, he allegedly carried her back to school and into an office, where he put her in a chair and put his leg over her, investigators said.
School officials called police, and Stewart ran from the campus. He was chased and captured by officers from the Compton Unified School District Police Department, Compton Police and the Sheriff’s Department.
A spokesman for the school district refused to comment on the incident, saying it was a matter that involved a student and may result in litigation.
