U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Andrew Ramirez--one of three hostages released this month by Serbian forces--will be given a hero’s welcome at Disneyland today, including a 10 a.m. ticker tape parade down Main Street USA.
Ramirez, Staff Sgt. Christopher Stone and Spc. Steven Gonzales were in Macedonia as part of the U.N.’s peacekeeping mission when they were captured by the Serbian military in March. They were held for 32 days before being released. Ramirez’s plight was followed closely in Southern California and especially in Baldwin Park, where his mother lives.
