5 Workers Hurt in Collapse of Crane

Five workers were injured, one seriously, when a large coal crane on Terminal Island collapsed Friday night.
The workers were on a 60-foot-tall platform of the crane when the structure fell, said Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells.
The crane is located inside a huge dome at the coal handling facility, Wells said. One victim was listed in serious but stable condition at a hospital. The other four workers had minor injuries, Wells said.
The cause of the accident was not immediately clear and the state Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate, Wells said.
