Plastic recycling bins have been placed in three parks as part of a joint effort between Dana Point and the Orange County Conservation Corps to save the plastic and metal containers being thrown away in city parks from ending up in the landfill.
City officials are monitoring how well the pilot program works in Pines Park, Sea Canyon Park and Del Obispo Community Park before considering whether to expand it, Dana Point Parks Manager Gary Groshon said.
