Flood Alarms to Be Tested Today
Eight flood alarms from Lake Casitas to the mouth of the Ventura River will be tested today. A new computer chip has been installed, which should make the sirens on this test louder and warning messages more distinct, according to the Bureau of Reclamation.
The sirens will be tested individually and at unspecified times.
The alarms were installed to warn residents of imminent flooding of Lake Casitas, an event considered unlikely unless a moderate quake strikes in the vicinity.
In the event of an actual emergency, residents would be directed to evacuate to higher ground.
