Since the end of the Cold War, the FBI has turned its attention to economic and industrial espionage. And while the threat to U.S. companies of being targeted by foreign nationals is real, the FBI and others warn that protecting against theft of trade secrets by American competitors and disgruntled employees is also important.
To help U.S. companies learn about what they can do to protect themselves, the FBI has come up with ANSIR--Awareness of National Security Issues and Response.
The program provides unclassified information about potential threats and offers consultations on “techniques of espionage” to help companies determine if they are vulnerable.
Companies interested in learning more about the FBI’s ANSIR should contact the nearest FBI field office and ask for its ANSIR coordinator, or send an email to [email protected].
