Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. in Camarillo, a maker of non-silicon telecommunications chips, said it completed its $30-million acquisition of a line of products for wide-area networks from Philips Semiconductors.
The latest purchase is part of Vitesse’s plan to expand its network services. In April, the company acquired closely held Sitera Inc., a maker of hardware and software for faster network processing, for $750 million in stock.
Philips, based in Amsterdam, is a unit of Royal Philips Electronics NV, Europe’s No. 2 semiconductor maker. The company also owns a 28% stake in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
