UCI Women Get First Water Polo Player

Christine Welsh of Coronado High has committed to play women’s water polo at UC Irvine, her father, Tom, said.
Welsh is the first player to commit to Irvine, which will begin playing women’s water polo next season.
She has scored 96 points in 17 games this season. She had 15 goals and was chosen most valuable player in the Coronado tournament.
Welsh, who has been playing the sport four years, had 85 goals last season. She played two years at Grossmont High, where she twice led the team in scoring.
