Today marks the 75th anniversary of La Habra, and longtime residents and city officials are ready to party all year long.
“It’s nice to know that elected officials as well as the community are all joining together to begin a yearlong activity,” said David Deleon, recreation manager for the city.
Today’s festivities include a tree-planting ceremony at Portola Park at 2 p.m., a parade through parts of the city ending at the Community Center at 2:30 p.m., a reception at the center at 3 p.m. and a dedication of the Old Settlers’ Way, a hallway with historic photos, at 3:30 p.m.
More than 1,000 invitations were mailed to residents and businesses in the county. Deleon also expects at least 30 descendants of the city’s original settlers to be on hand to share stories.
