Area High-Tech Firms Expanding

A company that makes amplifiers used in robotics will move into expanded 87,000-square-foot headquarters, bringing at least 50 more jobs into an area already flourishing with high-tech companies.
Twelve-year-old Advanced Motion Controls manufactures equipment that translates signals from computers to motors, said Jack Toerner, the company’s general manager. The technology is popular in the motion picture and eyeglass industries.
The company’s expansion is the latest good news for the technology corridor along the Ventura Freeway, which is home to 500 companies in the exploding industry.
Technicolor, one of the world’s largest video and compact disc duplication centers, recently finished a 425,000-square-foot building in eastern Camarillo.
EOS, a company that makes motion control and power pack systems for computers, just doubled in size.
Zebra, makers of thermal printing machines, is considering adding 25% more room to its 160,000-square-foot building off Flynn Road.
Camarillo reaps benefits from the jobs that the businesses create, said Jim Jevens, the city’s economic development consultant. The businesses pay on a scale that allows employees to buy homes in the area and drop disposable income at shopping malls.
