The City Council on Monday approved a $14.1-million budget for 2000-01, which includes expanded building inspector hours, an extra motorcycle police officer and a computer lab for children at the city’s youth center.
The largest capital improvement project will be the Katella Street Smart program, which will affect Katella Avenue from the San Gabriel River Freeway to the east city limits. Improvements will include new bus turnouts, better signal synchronization, landscaped medians and road widening on some sections. Information: (562) 431-3538.
