Two more Al Qaeda escapees were arrested after trying to cross the border into Afghanistan dressed as women, Pakistan officials in Peshawar said.
The newest arrests leave five prisoners unaccounted for after Wednesday’s revolt by a busload of Al Qaeda fighters nabbed after crossing into Pakistan. Seven Pakistani guards were killed in the revolt. At least 10 prisoners were fatally shot.
Thirty-three prisoners have been recaptured in the last three days.
Pakistani officials said the men caught Friday tried to disguise themselves by wearing burkas, the head-to-toe garment women were required to wear under Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers.
