Marriage of Convenience at State Border Proposed

The city councils of Wendover, Utah, and West Wendover, Nev., have agreed that their citizens should have a vote on whether the Nevada-Utah line should be moved to allow the two communities to unite.
The two councils, meeting jointly on the Nevada side, agreed to ask Congress to amend proposed federal legislation on moving the Nevada border to require local referendums.
The two towns, divided only by a line on the map, are noticeably different. Nevada has gambling, prostitution and liberal liquor laws. Utah, with its largely Mormon population, eschews Nevada’s sinful but profitable practices.
