Chocolate Makers Lose Bid to Dismiss Lawsuit

Hershey Foods Corp., Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. and other chocolate makers lost an early bid to dismiss a suit that claims they expose customers to dangerous levels of lead in their sweets.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Chalfant denied a request to toss out the American Environmental Safety Institute’s complaint that chocolate makers are violating a 1986 state law that requires companies to disclose whether their products contain chemicals that may cause cancer.
