Court Rejects Complaint on Failed Election

Serbia’s top court rejected a complaint from Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica that he won two Serbian presidential votes invalidated by low turnout.
Kostunica’s party said Serbia’s election commission had inflated voter lists by as many as 835,000 names using names of deceased or nonexistent people.
Official results show that voter turnout was less than the required 50% in elections this month and in October.
Kostunica’s party also said that turnout had reached 50% and that Kostunica, who finished first, should be proclaimed the winner. But the court ruled that the commission had acted appropriately.
