Carryover Spices Card

Thanks primarily to upset victories by 24-1 shot Lucayan Chief and 15-1 outsider Entrancing on Monday at Santa Anita, there is a pick-six carryover of more than $186,000 for today and it spices up an otherwise ordinary card.
After scratches, only 48 horses are left to run in the six races in the sequence and there could be more withdrawals this morning.
The shortest price in the pick six will probably be B Swift, who will break from the rail in the eighth and final race, a 51/2-furlong dash for $25,000 maiden claimers. Second in his last two, the 4-year-old gelding will be making his first start for trainer Mike Mitchell.
The pick six kicks off with the third, a sprint for $25,000 3-year-olds.
Race of the day: The seventh features Grand Appointment--a tough-luck second to repeat winner J.T.’s Song in his last race--going for his second career victory for the hot team of jockey Alex Solis and trainer Bruce Headley.
Who’s hot: John Little. The gelded son of Blushing John has found a home on Aqueduct’s inner dirt track. He has won three in a row by a combined 223/4 lengths. He will break from the rail in today’s eighth at Aqueduct.
Who’s not: Mr. Joe C, considered a contender by some in today’s seventh at Santa Anita, is 0 for 14 since the beginning of 2001.
Exotically speaking: A trifecta in the sixth using Departure Time on top to Yankee Pirate, Happy Hero and Crowning Point in the two hole and all in the third spot.
Winners: Previous day/meet total: 2/119. Money: Previous day/meet total: $8.60/$725.60. Total money bet: $700.
