Michael Jackson’s Not So ‘Invincible’

Regarding Robert Hilburn’s commentary on Michael Jackson (“It’s Time for Jackson to Face the Music,” July 17): It might behoove Mr. Jackson to take to heart the words of the great UCLA basketball coach John Wooden: “You aren’t a failure until you start blaming others for your mistakes.”

I’ve been a fan of Michael Jackson going all the way to the Jackson 5, and watching him blame everybody but himself for the poor reception of “Invincible” is indeed a very sad and pathetic thing to watch.
It is obvious that Jackson has slipped into Never Never Land and has refused to grow up. So does it really surprise anybody he acts like a child when his album only sells 5 million units?
Get those yes-men away from Michael, and maybe then it’s back to innovative ground-breaking music like he did before.

I read a very biased article on Michael Jackson. The media claims nobody cares about him anymore, yet his words about Thomas D. Mottola [Sony Music Entertainment chairman] have been all over the news.
Why? Because he sells papers! The sad thing is that Michael is right when he said the hate started when he began breaking Elvis Presley’s and the Beatles’ records.
The media fail to see the flaws that Elvis and the Beatles had, but they are quick to point out Bobby Brown’s flaws, or Whitney Houston’s or any black artist in trouble.
