Affordable Housing

If Mayor James Hahn wants to make housing available, he need look no further than his own backyard (“Hahn Unveils Plans for Economy,” July 13). When the military pulled out of San Pedro about 10 years ago it left hundreds of vacant, single-family detached homes. They’re still there, fenced off so that the LAPD can conduct training exercises. Homes are plentiful and available now at a fraction of the millions Hahn would spend.
