Something Quick in the Capital? Cherry Blossoms

Cherry blossom watchers take note: The buds have leapt.
National Park Service horticulturist Robert DeFeo, the Washington area’s chief blossom predictor, has adjusted his forecast for the blooming of the capital’s cherry trees, noting that last week’s warm weather has pushed up the estimated dates for peak bloom. “They creep or they leap,” DeFeo said. “They leapt.”
His latest forecast: The blooming period for the cherry blossoms will be next Wednesday to April 6, and the peak probably will be March 30 to April 1.
DeFeo had been predicting that the blooms would peak between April 1 and April 5.
