University Settles Bias Suit for $2.5 Million

Latino employees settled a discrimination suit against Cal State Monterey Bay for $2.5 million, one of the highest settlements paid by the state university system.
The agreement includes $1 million to plaintiffs Bert Rivas, Octavio Villalpondo and Cecilia Burciaga and their attorneys.
In addition, the university will establish scholarship funds totaling $1.5 million for low-income students on the Central Coast.
