Council Seeks Input on Site for Day Laborers

Responding to concerns about relocating a gathering spot for day laborers, the Thousand Oaks City Council will hold a second public discussion on the issue tonight.
The city proposes spending up to $50,000 to improve a strip of land it owns on Royal Oaks Drive, next to the Ventura Freeway, to create a new meeting site for laborers and the contractors who hire them. The greenbelt would have picnic tables and a portable toilet.
Several nearby property owners and tenants complained they didn’t know the council discussed the matter March 18 and felt they were denied a chance to comment.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.
