Bush’s 9/11 Lectern Takes Detour to History

AND FINALLY ...
The lectern President Bush used while addressing the nation after the Sept. 11 attacks was mistakenly sold as surplus property for $75 to a school in rural Arkansas.
“We’re such a small school to have something like that,” said Kirbi Fletcher, the Arkansas City High School valedictorian, before giving her speech behind the lectern at the school’s commencement.
The Air Force donated the lectern to the Arkansas Federal Surplus Property program, which sold it to the school district. The lectern will be retrieved by the government and forwarded to the Smithsonian, officials said.
