Taft Goes for City Track Three-Peat
Woodland Hills Taft will try to become the first school from the San Fernando Valley to win three consecutive City Section boys’ track and field titles when the section championships are held today at Lake Balboa Birmingham.
The Toreadors could total more than 50 points in the sprints and relays, but their title chances might hinge on how they do in jumping events. Birmingham is regarded as a co-favorite with Taft. Reseda Cleveland, paced by its sprinters and hurdlers, is a slight favorite to win the girls’ title over defending champion Birmingham. The meet will start with field events at 3:30 p.m. Track events begin at 5:30.
