After becoming only the 13th trainer to win 500 quarter horse races here, Dan Francisco will begin the trek to 600 tonight.
A trainer for some 33 years, Francisco reached the milestone on Saturday when Bobbys First Policy won the first race.
On tonight’s program, Francisco will be represented by Braces Keeper in the first, a $2,500 claimer at 300 yards, and the debuting 2-year-old Wcr Strongest Link in the fourth, a $12,500 claimer at 300 yards.
An Idaho-bred son of Takin On The Cash, Wcr Strongest Link worked in 13.20 and 13.10 from the gate and will be ridden by Alex Bautista. The fourth is the second race in a pick six that has a carryover of $10,722.
Braces Keeper also will be ridden by Bautista. The 3-year-old Raise A Secret gelding broke his maiden April 3.
The picks: 1. Give A Little. 2. Wilyacrossmyvalle. 3. Shanias Snowbound. 4. Jazzing Glory. 5. Miami Moon Dust. 6. Spanish Gypsy. 7. Really Western. 8. Youthlike.
Four! Use Give A Little and Simonize in the first, single Wilyacrossmyvalle in the second, Shanias Snowbound, Tinys Royal Hugger and Dashing Identity in the third and Jazzing Glory, Abducted In Traffic and Red And Hot in the fourth.
Shots in the dark: Don Chili should benefit from his previous race in the fifth. Drawn Down steps up in class in the eighth after a claim by trainer Jorge Farias.
