Recalling Asilomar of six decades back
The article by Vani Rangachar [“Comforted by Asilomar’s Natural History,” Weekend Escape, July 6] carried me back to 1941, when as a youngster of 19 I stayed at Asilomar from July to December under the National Youth Act, a program started by Franklin D. Roosevelt to help young people get on-the-job training. I worked for the provost marshal at nearby Ft. Ord. I met and married a GI stationed there.
