We Can’t Be Patient When Jobs Leave
I’m wondering where James Flanigan (“China Also Is Feeling Labor Pains,” Sept. 3) gets the idea that those of us in the manufacturing sector have the option of being “patient” with China while more and more of our jobs are going there.
Try telling this to the person whose unemployment ran out months ago and still can’t find a job.
I’m even more upset with our government for not doing anything to curtail the situation other than to ask China to raise its currency rate.
Flanigan is one of the fortunate ones who doesn’t have to worry about his job going to China, India or somewhere offshore. If he did have to deal with this issue, I bet he would then feel the sense of urgency and see that something needs to happen sooner than a year and a half from now.
