Hurricane Juan Spurs Evacuations in East

Hurricane Juan struck Nova Scotia with 80-mph winds and torrential rains, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of people, uprooting trees and knocking out power to parts of the provincial capital, Halifax.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. The storm was expected to track through central Nova Scotia, losing its hurricane strength by the time it reached Prince Edward Island.
