A two-hour condensation for television of Eric Clapton’s three-day Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas in June will air on two Southland public television stations this month.
KOCE-TV Channel 50 in Orange County will broadcast the program at 9 and 11:30 tonight as part of its winter pledge drive.
KCET-TV Channel 28 will wait until Dec. 29 at 8 p.m., when it will show the event that brought together Carlos Santana, B.B. King, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, ZZ Top, John Mayer, Vince Gill and dozens of other musicians. It will be shown as part of the “Great Performances” series, and will be followed at 10 that night by the John Mayall Bluesbreakers 70th birthday concert celebration, in which Clapton also took part.
A more expansive version of the festival, staged to benefit the Crossroads Centre drug and alcohol treatment center that Clapton established on the Caribbean island nation of Antigua in 1998, was released last month on DVD.
