D’Arby Myers, a 6-foot-3 center fielder who had 31 runs batted in last season as a sophomore at Culver City, has moved into the Westchester attendance area, giving the Comets one of the top college baseball prospects for 2006.
“He’s Dave Winfield,” said John Young, founder of Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities.
Myers hit a home run at Minute Maid Park in Houston as a 14-year-old. He has a 4.0 grade-point average.
After years of playing its championship game under the lights at Dodger Stadium, the City Section has decided to hold its final on Saturday afternoon, May 28, at the stadium.
The high school uniform number of Philadelphia Phillie pitcher Randy Wolf will be retired during ceremonies at the Woodland Hills El Camino Real alumni baseball game Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. Wolf led El Camino Real to City championships in 1993 and 1994.
