Grenade Found at Indonesian Hilton

From Reuters

A grenade was found in the parking lot of the heavily guarded Hilton hotel in the capital here today, police said, just days after warnings that militants might attack one of the three Hiltons in Indonesia.

“It’s about the size of a fist. It has been taken away,” said Jakarta police spokesman Tjiptono, who uses only one name.

Emeraldo Parengkuan, public relations director at the Jakarta Hilton, said a staff member had found a suspicious package.

“It was wrapped in a can,” he said.

The discovery follows warnings from Western governments, particularly Australia, that militants might target an international hotel, especially the Hiltons, in the world’s most populous Muslim nation during the holiday season.
