Boy, 12, in Extremely Critical Condition After Near-Drowning in Pool at Home

A 12-year-old boy was in extremely critical condition Tuesday night after nearly drowning in a backyard plastic pool at a North Hollywood home, a fire department official said.
Paramedics were called to Welby Way at 7:38 p.m. Paramedics applied pulmonary resuscitation as the boy was driven to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley. They finally got a pulse, but the boy required a ventilator to breathe, said Bob Collis of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The boy has a history of seizures, but it was not clear whether that was a factor in the accident, Collis said.
