When Job Picture Dims, What of Our Outlook?

Regarding “Job Growth in U.S. Slows Sharply” (April 2):
If the U.S. economy is not and may not in the future be generating enough jobs to meet demand, and unemployment rates slip downward because discouraged workers have given up, what kind of daily life can we look forward to?
We know the stock market goes down when workers get raises, but where is the front-page analysis about what goes down when people don’t have the jobs they need or are underemployed?
