Chatsworth’s Streak Hits 53 in a Row

It’s status quo for Chatsworth’s baseball team. Another season, another winning streak.
The Chancellors, ranked No. 9 in the Southland by The Times, improved to 3-0 and raised their state-record winning streak to 53 games with a 6-1 victory over visiting Agoura on Wednesday in a makeup game of the Moorpark/Showdown tournament.
Thomas Cassidy and Josh Ravin combined on a three-hitter. Ravin, a 6-foot-4 junior right-hander, struck out three in three shutout innings of relief in his first varsity appearance after being academically ineligible the last two seasons.
Chatsworth’s first four batters collected hits, including a triple by Matt Dominguez and a double by Oliver Padre that both drove in runs. Shortstop Mike Moustakas hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
Agoura (1-2) decided not to use UCLA-bound pitcher Jason Novak, who had been scheduled to pitch against Chatsworth on Friday in a game that was postponed because of rain.
