Coverage of Koran Controversy Criticized

Is the May 22 front-page article, “Dozens Have Alleged Koran’s Mishandling,” concerning allegations against our military for Koran desecration, based on such “credible” sources as former prisoners, their lawyers and civil rights lawyers, an attempt by the Los Angeles Times to outdo Newsweek with bigger and more deadly anti-U.S. demonstrations in Muslim countries?

I am perplexed by The Times’ concern about the alleged mishandling of the Koran. The angry Pakistani lawyers pictured should feel blessed that they do not have to deal with The Times and the ACLU when it comes to religious matters -- then they would have a battle on their hands. By the way, why is it so easy to capture Pakistani attorneys chanting anti-U.S. slogans in reaction to liberal U.S. media reporting but we never see those same upset lawyers when Islamic fascists kill innocent Iraqi children or when our military find mutilated bodies in mosques?
