Twisters Rip Up Homes; at Least 1 Person Killed

Tornadoes swept across central Iowa, damaging homes in several towns and sending football fans running for shelter.
The heaviest damage was reported in Stratford, which had one fatality, and in Woodward. There was also damage in Boxhom and Pilot Mound.
In Ames, fans waiting for the Iowa State Cyclones’ game against the University of Colorado were moved into Hilton Coliseum as the storm approached.
