Food article bursts with creative flavor

I feel compelled to write about the story by Amy Scattergood on the Big Sur Bakery & Restaurant [“A Wild Dream in the Wild,” Aug. 9]. What a pleasure to read! It’s a welcome and refreshing change to a section that (though one wishes [it] would celebrate one of life’s passions and sensual joys with writing that reflects its subject), often falls rather flat and bland, as though you’ve scoured the personality and interests of your writers clean like you would a pot. This article, like other really fine food writing, provided a sensual transport to a world far from my computer screen (and then later, the actual newspaper which I bought for the article, and my office). I hope you’ll continue in this mien, and bring on more opinionated, creative, sensual writing.
