Groovy! It’s vintage and affordable

Caliwood owner Nori Yamada proves midcentury style doesn’t have to mean high prices. The Los Feliz-area store stocks dining and bedroom furniture by Lane, Broyhill and other manufacturers that emulated Modernist classics by Paul McCobb and Edward Wormley but are often overlooked by collectors. Yamada (shown here in a vintage rope Harp chair by Jorgen Hovelskov) also carries groovy Formica end tables (from $60), a brass-trimmed dresser ($200), 1970s chrome and vinyl
dinettes ($800 for a glass-topped table and four chairs), as well as lighting, ceramics and cocktail
glasses. The new store is at 4644 Hollywood Blvd.,
