Time Warner in Deal to Use OpenTV Software

Time Warner Inc.’s cable television unit will use OpenTV Corp. software to add functions such as messaging, enhance program guides and add new products more quickly.
The software will be used by some Time Warner Cable customers starting in late 2006, San Francisco-based OpenTV said. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
OpenTV shares gained 45 cents, or 13%, to $3.91.
