Ben Howland preaches toughness to his UCLA players but is hypocritical. At the very least, next year’s nonconference home basketball schedule should attract family members.
Take nothing away from BYU, UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, Oakland University, Sam Houston State and Michigan. Those schools would make a fine home schedule for UC San Diego. I can just see recruits salivating over the chance to squeak by Oakland U.
Meanwhile, USC (USC?) plays Duke and Kansas in a brand-new arena over the next two years. What’s wrong with this picture?
