My Miss Storm Cat Faces 5

When My Miss Storm Cat wins, she leaves little doubt about her superiority.

In her three victories for owner Ed Friendly and trainer Bob Baffert, the 4-year-old daughter of Sea Of Secrets has won by a combined 21 lengths.

In her first start since a five-length win as the 3-5 favorite in an optional claimer March 26 at Santa Anita, My Miss Storm Cat will try to crush the field again when she takes on five others today in the $65,000 Desert Stormer Handicap at Hollywood Park.

A $70,000 purchase at Keeneland in September 2003, My Miss Storm Cat earned the first of her wins in Inglewood. She defeated maidens by 10 lengths as the 2-5 favorite May 29, 2004.

Da Svedonya, a 6-year-old Lil Tyler mare, is the late threat in the Desert Stormer. The California bred has won two in a row at the current meet for trainer Gary Stute and owners Don Beardsworth, Dennis Decauwer and Peter Lurie. She will again be ridden by Alex Solis.

Race of the day: Not Phone, who has won three of five starts on the Belmont Park turf, will try for another in the $100,000 Jaipur Handicap today. A Grade III race at six furlongs, the Jaipur will have a field of eight if it remains on the turf -- Spooky Mulder was entered main track only. Edgar Prado will ride Not Phone, an 8-year-old Argentine bred, for owners Lansdon Robbins III and trainer Rick Dutrow Jr.
