Downtown’s proof of potential
LAST year’s marches proved that downtown Los Angeles can be the center of political, cultural and human vitality in the region [“The City Rediscovers the Street,” Dec. 31]. The Grand Avenue project can increase these chances.
The goal of the Grand Avenue project is how well it can attract people from other communities to come to downtown, through amenities that are unique to the area and not found anywhere else. Also, it should somehow connect to Broadway and become an extension of the vibrancy that occurs on that street on a daily basis. As a result, a new form of urban experience can begin to occur organically and is not fabricated.
