* at Carolina 3, Toronto 2 (OT): Rod Brind’Amour scored with 1:40 left in overtime to give the Hurricanes the win. Scott Walker and Tim Gleason also scored for Carolina.
* at Washington 5, Montreal 4 (OT): Alex Ovechkin scored his fourth goal with 1:26 left in overtime to give the Capitals the win. Ovechkin also had an assist to finish with five points.
* N.Y. Rangers 4, at Philadelphia 0: Steve Valiquette made 20 saves in the first shutout of his career to help the Rangers get their first road win in more than a month.
* Boston 4, at Ottawa 1: Phil Kessel, Milan Lucic and Marc Savard scored in the first period to help the Bruins win their third in a row and end the Senators’ two-game winning streak.
* at Tampa Bay 4, Vancouver 3: Brad Richards had a goal and two assists, and the Lightning won for only the sixth time in 17 games The Canucks lost for the eighth time in 10 games.
* at Nashville 4, Columbus 2: J.P. Dumont extended the longest current points streak in the NHL to 16 games with two assists. Chris Mason of the Predators stopped 31 shots.
* Kings 3, at N.Y. Islanders 1: Jason LaBarbera made 28 saves. L.A. is 6-2-1 in its last nine games.
