Re “Land-use power eludes local panels,” Jan. 2
Why, with 89 neighborhood councils now in place, are our elected representatives so reluctant to seriously consider their recommendations regarding land-use or other projects? They should be glad to have the input. Could it be that they are afraid of losing influence, political or other?
Admittedly, it may be too early and risky to give full decision-making powers to neighborhood councils, but we can at least hope that there will soon come a time when our City Council members will vote according to the expressed wishes of the neighborhood councils.
