THE BUCKET
This Eagle Rock landmark (4541 Eagle Rock Blvd.) has been serving up mouth-watering, gut-busting burgers like the Cardiac and the Julio (topped with tangy mustard/garlic “Julio sauce”) since 1935. And that’s not to mention the full-sized pitchers of beer at affordable prices and the outdoor patio.
PAN PACIFIC PARK
When you want to escape from the hell that is rush-hour traffic on La Brea (or even worse, a Friday afternoon at the Grove), why not enjoy a stroll through this oft-overlooked mid-city park (7600 Beverly Blvd.)? Grassy knolls, kids playing soccer and, yes, even couples in love holding hands on a leisurely walk make this one spring fling we are looking forward to getting reacquainted with.
MICHAEL MADSEN
The B-movie journeyman goes places that most A-list stars would never dare to venture. Case in point: his gutsy turn as an S&M-obsessed; businessman in the French thriller “Boarding Gate,” opening Friday.

SHE & HIM
In a year of wildly overpraised female singer-songwriters (Kate Nash, St. Vincent), Zooey Deschanel’s thin reedy voice, trite lyrics and utter lack of originality on her band’s debut album (March 18) takes the cake for musical vanity projects.
“I HATE YOU SARAH MARSHALL”
MARKETING CAMPAIGN
You’ve seen them all over town: plain white billboards with the above nasty message faux hand-scrawled-in-black-Sharpie. We knew we’d regret looking up the Web address printed in small type at the bottom, but at least we can spare others the trouble: It’s hype for “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” the latest Judd Apatow-produced revenge-fantasy -- excuse us, comedy -- about a schlubby guy stalking his miles-out-of-his-league ex-girlfriend.
GINGERGRASS
This uber-trendy Silver Lake restaurant (2396 Glendale Blvd.) serves so-so Vietnamese cuisine at gourmet prices. For Silver Lake pho that’s really good, try Pho Cafe (2841 W. Sunset Blvd.).
